A suspected armed robbery gang leader on Monday confessed to have met his other gang members in prison and planned other robbery operations after their release.
According to the suspect, Femi Adegbile, he had been in the business of forcefully dispossessing victim of their possessions especially cars for three years before he was arrested.
“We were driving a stolen car while we were arrested at Idiroko. I have a barbing saloon but I had a problem which led me to one man we call Papa.
“Papa told me that there is no way he can help me except I steal vehicles for him. I had to accept because of the problem I had. That was how I was initiated.
“This was after I came back from prison. I was in Agodi Prison, Ibadan and Ilaro Prison where I met Ijiola Johnson whom we usually go on operation together.
“The same Papa usually plan the robbery and arrange for men who will bring us guns from Republic of Benin. I feel ashamed and embarrassed to be here today.” he said.
The other suspect, Ijiola Johnson however confessed to have met Adegbile at Agodi Prison where he spent eight months for offences bordering on burglary.
Adeyemi Segun, also a suspected member of the gang said he had only gone to steal vehicles with the gang two months ago and was N15, 000 after which he repented.
“I have gone on operation with them twice. The first time we were chased but the second time was at Agege where we stole some laptops and some money after which I was paid N15, 000.” he said.
Two other members of the gang who specialize in smuggling guns for the gang, Kamal and John Ajayi were also paraded after they confessed to have been paid N5, 000 for every operation.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal while briefing the press at the State Command Headquarters said the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
