Godwin Etim John is the authentic APC chairman in Cross River- INEC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of Cross River State, Frankland Briyai has declared on Wednesday that the commission only recognize Mr. Godwin Etim John as the authentic chairman of All Progressives Congress APC, Cross River State chapter.

Speaking in Calabar on Wednesday in a stakeholders forum at the Commission headquarters, the INEC Commissioner said from the information available from INEC office Abuja to his office in Calabar, Godwin Etim John led executive is the authentic party executive in the state.

He went further stated that the National Secretariat of APC Abuja communicated to INEC office Abuja which was transmitted to his office in Calabar that Godwin Etim John is the authentic Chairman of the party in the State.

He explained that the last congresses of APC in he state held at the Cultural Centre was witnessed by staff of the Commission including the security agencies in the state.

When contacted in his office, the state Secretary of APC, Francis Ekpeyong  further explained that the development have laid to rest speculation in the social media platform on who is the authentic Chairman of the state APC.

According to the APC scribe, today in a stakeholders forum where a factional Chairman who was laying claim to the seat, was told to his face and his supporters that Godwin Etim John is the only recognized Chairman of Cross River State APC.

On the bye election for the vacant Obudu State constituency, Ekpeyong said the party was fully ready for the election and has commence the processes of selling intent and nominations forms to APC stalwarts in the area.

Briyai also promised that the Commission would provide a level
playing ground for all and ensure that the election would be free and fair.

He said the election would be held in 107 polling units in the ten wards of Obudu local government area.

The REC said only those who voted in the 2015 General Elections and those who collected their Permanent Voter Cards as at December 2017 are eligible to vote during the bye-election.

He said accreditation and voting during the election would be done simultaneously as voters will be accredited and allowed to vote immediately.
