Chief Sunday Oziezele aka Ikpenomhen, has emerged as the people’s choice to represent Esan South East LGA in the Edo State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forth coming general election in 2019.
Rising from the meeting of leaders that lasted into the wee hours of Tuesday morning, Chief Oziezele was chosen above the incumbent Hon Festus Edughele who was gunning for his second term in the hallowed chambers.
Oziezele journey to the house, started when he addressed party leaders and ward executives where he made his intention of gunning for a seat at the State House of Assembly public.
Reeling out a plethora of his philanthropic achievements through his NGO Sunny Oziezele Foundation that includes the award of scholarships and provision of text books and exercise books to indigent students in both secondary and tertiary institutions, soft loans to small and medium scale business men and women, establishment of skill acquisition centers in all the wards that constitute the LGA, he promised that if given the blessing to represent the LGA, he will use his good office to attract more of government attention to LGA.
“I will bridge the yawning gap that had hitherto existed in our electioneering outings that has made us the laughing stock of our opponents. Upon my honor, I promise you that all the twenty-three units that comprises Ward six & seven where we had in time past, performed abysmally, will be won by our great party henceforth if given the ticket” he enthused.
The State leader of the party in the LGA, Victor Eboigbe informed the gathering of the intention of the incumbent Hon Festus Edughele to seek a second tenure he therefore noted that since the two aspirants are from Ubiaja the homestead of Ward six and seven, he will not want to be seen as imposing any candidate on the electorate, he therefore urge the leaders from the two wards to go back home and harmonize their thoughts and come out with one choice. He stressed that there is the dire need for Ward Six &Seven to come together and work as one united force more so against the backdrop of the sensitive position the two wards occupy in the LGA and as such anything that will resurrect divisiveness of the past should be avoided at all cost.
“Let it be noted that the era of imposing candidates on the electorate has been consigned to the dust bin of history. I do not want my name associated with imposition of candidates by tale bearers, so go back and give me your choicest choice but that choice of yours, should be based on who has the wherewithal to win election for the party” he said with a note of finality.
However the meeting at Ubiaja was deadlocked which necessitated the shifting of venue to Benin the State capital. Reports have it that the meeting of leaders and stakeholders lasted into the wee-hours of Tuesday morning where it was amicably resolved and subsequently settled for Sunday Oziezele as the choicest choice.
As at the time of filing this report, party faithful, well-wishers who are sympathetic to Oziezele course are in celebration mood even as they praised the wisdom of their leaders whom they say really do want a further dwindling fortunes of the party in the LGA.
An elated Ward Executive Ohue Samuel, noted that with the emergence of Chief Oziezele, the party no doubt is set to be repositioned to that enviable status that is its hallmark. “I know his antecedent; here is a pragmatic resourceful young entrepreneur of repute, a magnanimous philanthropist, who with others of his likes all over the country is currently coming to sanitize our putrid political firmament.
