Lagos police chief dares cultists, political thugs, others ahead of 2019 elections

The commissioner of police Lagos State Command Imohimi Edgal at his resumption in office vowed that his agenda is to make Lagos safe by riding the state of crime and criminals, that he would go all out to ensure that anybody who is not qualify to carry arm will be fished out no matter how highly placed, will face the full weight of the law.

The man has been translating his word to action. His operatives charged with the responsibility of recovering illegal fire arms arrested Sunday Owicho 42 who was found with one K2 automated rifle with 26 round of ammunition.

While being interrogated it was discovered that the suspect has being impersonating law enforcement officer and robbing innocent citizens by the means of arms he possessed.

Police, the CP said, while beaming search light on illegal possession of arms, the operatives arrested another suspect Sunday Joseph 43 years old who was equally impersonating as traffic police officer at Oshodi area of Lagos, extorting unsuspecting motorists in the area.

To prove his credibility as authentic officer, he adorned green colour combat trousers and a black T-Shirt that end up giving him up a fake operative. Police recovered from him Jack knife and one tear gas canister with which he deceived the populace as a genuine police officer.

Unrelenting on their efforts, to fish out criminals the operative of command were able to apprehend armed robbers across the state in Obalende, Sabo where the twosome of Kolade Sharif Male 22 years and Akeem Fatai Male 40 years were arrested with one locally male pistol, eleven round of live cartridges and one Volkswagen Golf Saloon Car with registration no AAA 388AW and other parts of the state, Sabo, Alaba International Market, Suya Sport Berger, Shomolu, Ojo, where various aspects of arms and ammunition and other armful objects were recovered from them.

The police boss who expressed his appreciation to Lagosians for their peaceful conduct during and after the recently concluded APC primary elections which security indices was successful.

He however said there were pockets of unlawful acts in some parts of the state, caused by nefarious activities of political thugs, Edgal said the police will not

condone thuggery  and hooliganism,as  we will not leave any stone unturned in dealing with criminals. The police arrested a total of eighty four thugs from various parts of the state. For logistic reason, police could only parade sixty eighty of them.

In another development Edgal praised Lagosians for always given information that helps police in busting crime as was the case recently. Information was received

from a reliable source that some armed robbers were operating at Fashola Estate, Sango Otta robbing vehicle spare part dealers. The command mobilised its operative attached to the Rapid Response Squared (RRS) and federal special anti-robbery squared FSARS to scene. The armed robber fled on sighting the operative. However, two of the armed robbers namely Sulaimon Seun 21 and Olamilekan Olaoluwa 24 years were arrested. Police recovered from them one locally made pistol, cut-tosize barrel gun, four wheels of a Land Rover SUV, two tyres and two auto batteries. Police promise to arrest the flew member of the gang for prosecution.

In a related development police received information that some dare devil armed robbers robbing passerby on Agility Road Lagos, the operatives from Ketu police state and FSARS were deployed to the scene. One of the bandits Lekan Ashiru 22years was arrested at the scene with a locally made pistol and three live cartridges. Police also received information that who hoodlums were robbing shops owners on St. Saviour Street, Okota Lagos operative of the state intelligent bureau and FSARS raised to the scene. Oluwaseyi 32 who claimed to be a student of Kogi State University but was rusticated by the school authority for his cult related activities. One cut-to size double barrel gun and two live cartridges were recovered from him.

The police commissioner said the common denominator of armed robber in these cases is that armed robbers were always in action before police received information and the police responded smoothly, thus nipping the crime in the board.
